‘Ice Town’, Embankment of the Ob
The ‘Ice Town’ at the embankment of the Ob river is a good old Novosibirsk tradition, and each year it is devoted to a certain theme. This year we are celebrating 55 years of the first space flight done by Yuriy Gagarin, the Soviet cosmonaut. The Soviet Union was the first country on the Globe to travel to the outer Space, and though many years have passed since then, we are still proud of that.
This year the organizers of the Ice Town did their best to express their gratitude to the Space pioneers, to let us and our kids have fun on numerous slides, and to give some exciting facts about the most famous Soviet cosmonauts and planets of the Solar system, the Sun and the Moon. You can spend hours there enjoying yourself on slides, looking at marvellous ice figures and educating yourself about the Space. even if you think you know a lot on the subject, you are destined to learn some new facts and new names.
The Ice Town is easily accessible by public transportation including metro. It is open every day 10 to 22 until the end of February. The entrance ticket is 250 rubles for everyone older than 7. Don’t be afraid of getting frozen, there is a nice warm cafe where you can have a cup of hot tea of coffee and go on having fun!
Hello ! Do you know if the Ice town will still be standing up by the end of March ?
Best, Christine
