Where to drink good coffee in Novosibirsk

There are now a lot of places in Novosibirsk where you can drink good coffee. I’m not a coffee expert, though I love coffee, and I like places where the choice of coffee is wide, not just cappuccino and Americano, where there is a good choice of various dishes, including delicious desserts, and where the atmosphere is nice and comfortable.

Luckily enough, there are such cafes in all city districts, these cafes are decorated in various ways, nearly all of them offer free wi-fi, so it is possible to come and work there, and all but a few open at 8 in the morning and offer continental breakfast.

Here I offer you a short list of cafes where you can drink good coffee, but if you have been in Novosibirsk and found a betterplace, tell me and I’ll write a post about it.

1. Travellers’ Coffee. It is a chain of cafes offering extremely good coffee and desserts, and it is one of the rare places in the city where no alcohol can be found, though there are still smoking areas in these cafes. In addition to the dishes found in the cafe all year round, it also offers its visitors seasonal dishes, like broccoli salads or soups in autumn or alcohol-free mojito in summer. In the city center I recommend visiting the cafe located Lenina St.6. http://www.travelerscoffee.ru/

2. Kofemolka (Кофемолка). It is also a chain offering its visitors good coffee, a wide variety of salads, soups, hot dishes, desserts, as well as beer, wine and spirits. What I find very positive about this place is that smoking areas are very small there and are usually separated from the non-smoking areas. http://www.cofemolka.com/

3. Cup of Coffee (Чашка кофе). I have written about one of the cafes from this chain, the interior of which I like very much, but other cafes of this chain are also good, though the prices in it are slightly higher than in two chains mentioned above. http://chashkacoffee.ru/

4. Shokoladnitsa (Шоколадница). This is a chain founded in Moscow, but it is successful in Novosibirsk as well. great coffee, wide variety of dishes, delicious desserts including strawberries with cream. Somewhat expensive, but still recommended! http://www.shoko.ru/novosibirsk

6. Coffee House. One more Moscow-based chain. Personally I don’t like it very much (somewhat uncomfortable furniture, big smoking areas), but as all the cafes are always full, they must be good. http://www.coffeehouse.ru/

5. Lamponi. A cafe, which is a part of the Italian restaurant Uno. Located Oktyabsrkaya St. 34, it is very small but cozy, and the prices there will definitely make you happy. There are only 6 tables there, and only one waiter, who is also a bartender, works there. Bad is that the whole cafe is a smoking area, but due to its location in the so-called quiet center it is never full of people, so you always have chances to come there and enjoy a smoking-free atmosphere.

6.  Butterfly (Баттерфляй). One of the oldest cafes in the city, located Frunse St. 5. when it opened about 10 years ago, it was very small, and there was even no WC there, but now it’s a good place consisting of two halls. It offers extraordinary delicious desserts and interesting coffee with cognac and tequila.

Of course, the list is not complete, but in my opinion, these are the best places where you can have good coffee. Welcome to Novosibirsk and have a nice coffee break!

You actually missed one of the best, if not the best one: “PUERTO”. I can’t give you the exact address. It has two shops: one in Down Town near Lenin square and another near Farmers Market. I just returned back to Chicago from vacation to Russia (Moscow & Novosibirsk). I would safely recommend Puerto to a visitor.

Valery, thank you for your comment! Of course, I know Puerto and I can confirm coffee is great there, but I didn’t write about it because here you can only buy coffee-to-go. At least now it’s so.
